What is Love According to the Bible?
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
#Love means having to get over yourself. The opposite of love is indifference (not concerned) and we have to choose love every day. If God did not love or care about you, He would have remained indifferent and not taken the action to die on the cross for you and forgive you of your sins. If He did not love you, He would not convict you when you are doing something wrong.
Do not take His love for granted and throw it away. We also have to extend this love to other people. This can take form in many ways such as withholding temper, letting go of grudges, making allowances for mistakes, being patient, and of course, helping others.
When you realize that it is not always about you and start thinking about others, that is love. Dying to self. Being joyful about other’s success. Always providing encouragement. Giving up some of you for the good of others.
John 3:16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.”
