How to be a Christian: Tips for New Christians
Jesus said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
This question comes from a 13-year-old subbie who wants to know “How to be a Christian?”
So there is no exact manual that gives you step by step directions on how to be a Christian.
However, it seems as though you have already taken the first step which is accepting Jesus Christ as your savior.
When this happens you become reborn and now have the Holy Spirit living inside of you. He is your helper and guide in life.
He will assist you in living out your life as how God wants you to.
The key to being a Christian is to make sure you are spending time in God’s word on a daily basis.
The Bible says “man cannot live on bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”
That is because in order for your walk with Christ to be effective you must feed your spirit with the word of God. This is important because the word of God is not only true but it has the power to transform you.
Now a common thing you will find with people of great faith in the Bible such as David, Abraham, and Joseph is that they walked closely with God.
This means that they had a close relationship with Him.
So, how do you be a Christian?
A. You accept Christ into your heart (Click the link for the prayer of salvation)
B. You forgive others and ask God to forgive your mistakes
C. You read the Bible
D. You maintain a close relationship with God by talking and listening to Him (those who love me obey my commands, John 14:21).
E. You love others as you love yourself. That means you do not hurt people intentionally and you help people when needed.
Contrary to belief, God does not require some grandiose thing from us.
It’s fairly simple.
He just wants us to stay close to Him and have faith in Him. You do not have to change your whole personality to become a Christian but at the same time, you are being renewed daily.
We do not think the same way we use to and we now have the mind of Christ. This changes our perspective on life and how we react to things, all for the better.
Hope I answered your question.
