How to Hear God's Voice
1 Chronicles 28:9 “And Solomon, my son, learn to know the God of your ancestors intimately. Worship and serve him with your whole heart and a willing mind. For the Lord sees every heart and knows every plan and thought. If you seek him, you will find him. But if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.”
Probably one of the most asked questions for believers is how do I hear God’s voice? If your friend calls you in the middle of a noisy crowd, without even looking you automatically know who is calling you. Why? Because you’ve spent enough time with them to learn their voice.
Even without seeing them, when they call you, you know who it is. When a stranger calls you in the middle of a noisy crowd, your first thought is going to be, who is that? You don’t recognize their voice. Why? Because you have not spent enough time with them to get to know them. This is the same with God.
Through His word in the Bible, we can come to distinguish His voice from outside noises. God’s voice always aligns with His word. We can probably already name some of the attributes of God such as patient, loving, good, faithful, truth, fair, etc. To get to know Him on a deeper level, you’ll have to dive into His word and apply it to your life. You’ll start to see, hear, and get to know God on a more personal level.
I don’t know about you, but I can’t study with a lot of distractions. Spending alone time with God and seeking Him means you’ll have to cut down on nonproductive areas taking up a lot of time such as television, secular music, social media, etc. to make some room. If you can put your phone down and turn off the television to spend some time with God, I promise you it’s worth it. Over time you’ll be able to discern His voice from others.

God can speak to us through His Holy Spirit, other people, the Bible, sermons, devotionals, dreams, etc but we have to be attentive and focused on His message.
