Obedience Over Sacrifice
1 Samuel 15:22 But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.
A lot of us struggle with this. We don’t like being told what to do even it’s for our own good or for the good of others. But how are you expected to see God move in your life or other people in your life if you are not being obedient to Him? I get it, sometimes being obedient can make us uncomfortable, but you don’t know what may happen in the end.
Your obedience can literally save someone’s life. Your obedience can lead to opened doors and more opportunities. Your disobedience, however, can lead to shut doors and missed opportunities. It can even affect other people, not just yourself. Why not take heed to the voice of the Person with foresight? He knows what He is doing, you just have to trust Him even if it means getting over yourself.
When He asks you to do something, it may conflict with your own natural reasoning. That is because He knows, the past, present, and future, so it will not make sense to our limited understanding. It will also clash with what your fleshly desires.
Remember that the spirit and flesh are constantly at war pulling you into different directions. Most of all it will test your faith in Him and call you to be courageous. Fortunately, you do not have to worry because He will provide you with everything you need to do what He has called you to do. If it were impossible, He wouldn’t tell you to do it. Sometimes we have to take that first step before He will give us further instructions.
He wants to see if you’ll even trust Him enough that take that first step.
