Renew Your Mind in Christ
Romans 12:2 “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good pleasing and perfect.”
This is the beginning of the process where change takes place. Some people call it the “wilderness season”. I like to call it a reversal. It’s where all of our old habits begin to break and in comes the mind of Christ. It’s a process and it’s a long process. Perhaps lifelong. You will continuously learn how to be more Christ-like, but it starts in your head first. Why? Because our actions start with our thoughts.
You can change the trajectory (path) of your life just by one action that started by one thought. When we make bad decisions in our life, it starts out as “Should I do this or should I do that, which way to go?”. How do you discern (differentiate) between what’s good or bad? God’s word that’s how. His words are powerful and are able to change you from the inside out.
2 Corinthians 10:5 “We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.”
His words will discern between the truth and the lies we’ve been believing all along. The devil (father of lies by the way) have been filling our thought life with lies that have been causing us to commit actions that are not so pleasing to God. Here’s the thing though, you don’t have to do what he says. Did he force Eve to eat the apple? No. Deceived her, yes, but by force, no. Therefore, you do not have to feel like you have to do something that you know is wrong. Capture your thoughts and see what God says. He will stir you in the right direction.
