What is the Christian Stance on Abortion- Judge or Support?

We already know abortion is wrong but can we go beyond that for a moment. Instead of sitting in a judgment seat that rightfully belongs to God, can we look at the actual person?

When people feel as though they have no other choice besides abortion, I ask myself what is going on in their lives that would make them feel that way?

Do they feel like they are unprepared for a child due to age, family constraints, finances, the other partner, judgment, interference with life, or maybe it was just a one-time mistake?

This is one of the reasons why God reserved sex for marriage. If you are in a committed marriage and actually want to have children, abortion does not become an issue.

The real issue behind abortion is fornication which is sex outside of marriage. Sex and children are gifts from God. This is why He set boundaries for our own protection.

Outside of those boundaries is where you will find unwanted pregnancies along with a host of other issues.

Now, when we do make unfortunate decisions that violate those boundaries, how are we as human beings careful not judge people but rather support them?

By support I mean so they do not feel like their only option is abortion. One of the very reasons why people choose abortion is because they are not supported or they feel it is the only option. We say they are “unclean” and keep it moving with our own lives.

Everybody has sinned and we all have fallen short. Nobody except for Jesus walked on this earth being a perfect human being. Yes, they made their own decision but we should not lead our fellow sisters into more sin by placing judgment on them. That is not our rightful position.

They could have opted for adoption maybe if they weren’t asked a thousand and one questions about it afterward.

They could have kept the baby if maybe their parents didn’t threaten to kick them out of the house.

They could have kept the baby maybe if their friends weren’t going to constantly talk about them and give them dirty looks.

We have to be careful about how we treat each other. God’s vision for humanity is not to continuously tear each other down but to love on one another as He loved us when we were dead in our sins.

Romans 3:23-24 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty from our sins.
