Tips for Making Your Own Christian Girl Routine
Starting a routine with Jesus, whether in the morning, evening, or afternoon helps you to maintain a consistent relationship with Him. It’s like a daily pick-me-up that's better than your morning coffee or tea where you get to learn and have a conversation with a Friend.
After work, I would wine down a bit from the day and take care of anything that needed attention around the house or with my son. Then once he was pre-occupied, I would read my Bible in the living room daily.
This is one of the most valuable times I will cherish with God because I learned so much at the beginning of my walk.
I learned how to hear God’s voice, why we live in the world we do, and my purpose here on this earth.
Eventually, I switched my evening routines to mornings so I can dedicate school work to the evenings.
Now I love spending early mornings with God because it is quiet and there are no distractions.
Remember, just like with any other person you want to get to know, the key is spending time with them. The same way is with your Heavenly Father.
Routines can consist of:
Bible reading and studying
Meditating on the Word
It’s you and Jesus spending time with each other so you can build that special bond.
Here are six tips you can incorporate to develop your own routine.
1. Customize it to your lifestyle
Everybody’s life is different from late-night shifts, school, business travels, and everything in between.
If you have a pretty set schedule then decide if you want to wake up earlier to spend alone time with God or if there is a time window after your day is finished that you can dedicate.
Do what works best for you if that means listening to the Bible during your commute or spending your lunch/breaks with God. I believe if you try, He will honor it.
2. Be Prepared
Being prepared saves you so much time and effort. The Bible is literally a library that contains 66 books.
When I am trying to figure out what to read, I tend to waste so much time that I could have been spending with God.
A way to eliminate this problem is to choose a Bible reading plan that you will stick to. It can be a topical study, (hope, faith, fear, trust, love, etc.) chronological study, or reading front to back. Pinterest has so many Bible reading plans that you can use.
You can follow me on Pinterest here.
Decide whether you are going to read the Bible for general understanding or if you are going to take the time to study it. Reading the Bible all the way through once is helping me with my in-depth study. I get so many cross-reference ideas because of my past readings.
3. Be Flexible
Of course, if the Holy Spirit is leading you to read a certain passage of the bible outside of your reading plan then do it.
Don’t be so rigid in your routine that you fail to follow the prompting of the Holy Spirit.
For example, God may be leading you to read Deuteronomy at the moment even though you are currently in Job because He wants to show you something pertaining to your life, give you encouragement, or answer a prayer.
4. Have a Dedicate Area
Have a dedicated area in your home with all your materials handy. This prevents you from running around the house to search for what you need.
Some materials to keep on hand in your special place include:

5. Get a Travel Basket or Tote Bag
If you are a person who tends to travel to multiple levels of your house or likes to take your routine outside of your house, a storage basket or tote bag may be a good idea.
A storage basket with handles allows you to place all your material in it so you can go from your living room to your bedroom, or to the back yard.
If you want something that is extra convenient, a large tote with different pocket sizes allows you to spend time with Jesus at the coffee shop, library, on the beach, at the park, a friend’s house, anywhere! This leads to my next tip.
6. Change Sceneries
It can get boring staring at the same four walls every day. Grab your travel tote and go to your backyard or patio while you hear the birds chirping and breathe in some fresh air.
This makes reading the Bible a different experience.
If you feel bored or stagnant during your routine, a change of scenery may be just what you need.
Invite some friends over for some breakfast and coffee. You never know what the Holy Spirit might do.
Having a Christian girl routine is about spending time with the Person who loves you the most.
As you go throughout your day, hopefully, you will remember those spiritual nuggets God dropped in your heart. It’s not about having the best aesthetics or making sure you are already perfect.
Sometimes you’ll cry, have nothing to say, or not want to do it at all. It’s okay, keep running back to your Father and spend that much-needed time with Him.
